RUAG Space GmbH is part of the Swiss technology group RUAG and is the leading Austrian company in the field of space technology. With more than 230 employees, we develop and manufacture electronics, mechanisms and thermal insulation for commercial and scientific satellites.

In this challenging and exiting position at our site in Vienna you are responsible for the development and verification of satellite onboard and ground software as well as electronics products, equipment and sub-systems on system-/architectural-level.

Responsibilities

• Analysing internal and/or external customer requirements as well as understanding the company’s strategic goals
• Compiling the system-level requirements for the software and electronics development and performing the functional decomposition and break-down
• Developing the overall topology and architecture concept/design covering all related disciplines (HW, SW and FPGA) of satellite onboard and ground software and electronics product, equipment or sub-systems
• Interfacing with adjacent software, FPGA and hardware development teams to drive technical concepts, modularity, synergies across products and technology choices
• Strategical responsibility for the test philosophy, also in high volume production, e.g. onboard embedded tests and designs for production and testability
• Definition of the overall architecture of the test equipment and driving the implementation (incl. SW & HW etc.)
• Technical, budgetary and schedule responsibility for the fulfilment of the assigned system engineering tasks
• Defining the technical concept and solutions on system-level for recurring or product development proposals and estimation of the corresponding cost
• Working as technical interface towards both the customer and subcontractors

Skills & Experience

• Education in Electrical/Software/Aerospace Engineering, M.Sc. level (or corresponding experience) with a proven expertise and track record in embedded and/or space-flight System-Engineering
• Experience and good knowledge in space system design and development or verification of complex and reliable electronics solutions
• Good knowledge in requirements engineering and functional decomposition
• Profound interdisciplinary understanding of electronics, software, signal processing
• Ability to set up trade-off’s regarding cost, time, quality, performance, etc., based on the combination of the customer’s need and the projects budget
• Fluent English-skills

Nice to have

• Skills in German, Finnish or Swedish language
• Experience with agile methods or experience as team leader for agile teams, e.g., Scrum master or Product Owner
• Experience as development engineer in the fields of software or FPGA/ASIC engineering for satellite onboard and ground software and electronics products, equipment and sub-systems
• Knowledge in GNSS and / or of both analogue and digital signal processing techniques

Monthly salary: minimum € EUR 3.728,4.- according to the Collective Agreement. Actual salary is dependent on qualification and professional experience.
