The Department Art History at the Institute for Habsburg and Balkan Studies (IHB) at the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW), Austria’s leading non-university research and science institution, is offering a
PHD STUDENT POSITION (F/M/X)
(part-time / 15h per week)
The three-year project-based position is to be filled from October 01st, 2024.
Your tasks: - Study, collection and documentation of early modern pragmatic written material from monastic contexts
- Analysis of serial sources using digital methods
- Cultural studies contextualisation of the data collected
- Coordination and interface between the participating partners in the project
- Assistance with the organisation of conferences and workshops and project administration
Your profile: - Master degree in a related field
- Ideally, a number of years of relevant professional experience in the field of history and cultural studies
- Experienced in working with archives (especially monastery archives)
- Knowledge of palaeography, Early Modern High German, sources of pragmatic writing and the history of religious orders
- Excellent German and English required, other languages preferred, knowledge of Latin required
- Ability to work in a team, initiative
We are looking for strong communicators with a confident manner who can present complex issues in a clear and understandable way and who enjoy working independently.
We offer an annual gross salary of € 18.886,67, according to the collective agreement of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
