Massar Capital Management (“Massar”) is an alternative investment management company founded in 2015, managing over $1.6bn in AUM as of May 2024. Massar employs a discretionary global macro trading strategy that seeks to capture investment opportunities across liquid commodity, foreign exchange, fixed income, and equity markets. Massar currently has offices in the United States and Europe.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Accountant | Vienna, Austria

We are seeking an Accountant to join Massar’s Finance team, focusing on a variety of accounting functions in support of the Accounting Department. You will become an integral part of the accounting team for a growing company. Preferably, candidates will have experience in a similar company structure.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage month-end close processes and annual audit and tax processes.
• Coordinate and liaise with external auditors and tax advisors.
• Calculate and review expense accruals.
• Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date.
• Resolve invoice discrepancies.
• Understand VAT (maximizing VAT recovery / Optimizing VAT-related cost savings).
• Familiarity with Austrian accounting standards.
• Monitor collateral and cash management.
• Prepare weekly and monthly performance reports.
• Prepare ad hoc strategic analyses with the business team.
• Prepare financial data for external parties, including investors and trading counterparties.
• Ensure company compliance with applicable laws and regulations; prepare data for relevant regulatory and tax filings.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• 3 – 5 years of relevant work experience.
• Strong organization and communication skills.
• Experience with accounts payable/receivable and general ledger functions.
• Prior hedge fund experience (start-up experience is a plus).
• Audit and accounting experience.
• Experience with QuickBooks or similar software.
• Expertise in tax reporting and strategic planning.
• Understanding of compliance functions.
