Massar Capital Management (“Massar”) is an alternative investment management company founded in 2015, managing over $1.6bn in AUM as of May 2024. Massar employs a discretionary global macro trading strategy that seeks to capture investment opportunities across liquid commodity, foreign exchange, fixed income, and equity markets. ROLE OVERVIEW

Operations Specialist | Vienna, Austria

We are a technology-led hedge fund seeking a resourceful and independent problem-solver to manage projects and day-to-day responsibilities within our operations team. The ideal candidate will develop and oversee a robust internal control environment, manage operations and operational risk, and ensure accurate fund accounting reporting. As part of the global operations team, this role requires partnering with and supporting both the US and Austria-based Operations and Investment teams. Identifying risks and proposing solutions is key to the success of this role.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop a comprehensive control framework across all the business functions, including finance, operations, administration, investor relations, and brokerage relations, between the US and EU.
• Work closely with the firm’s execution trader(s) to support daily trading activities.
• Manage daily trading operations, overseeing end-to-end processes from trade execution to settlement, with a focus on T+0 monitoring and T+1 reconciliations with clearing brokers and administrators, particularly in Europe and Asia.
• Monitor equity and fixed income positions, including related events such as corporate actions and cash flows.
• Assist in fund accounting and financial reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Actively participate in treasury, cash, and risk management functions to optimize financial performance.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA) are a plus.
• 3 – 10 years of experience in operations, accounting, business, or risk development within a leading hedge fund, investment bank, or asset management firm.
• Experience working with equities, FX, fixed income, and commodities products. Preferably looking for someone with experience in futures, options (e.g., cash equity, equity, and index), and OTC cleared products. Experience in OTC FX is a plus.
• Advanced Excel/VBA skills with some SQL/programming knowledge.
• Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to identify and mitigate risks.
• Strong work ethic with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Must be a team player with excellent communication skills, both internally and externally.
• Proficiency in financial software and trading platforms; experience with data analytics tools is highly desirable.
