Your personal sphere of influence:

The Department of Nursing Science at the University of Vienna was established in 2005 and is part of the Faculty of Social Sciences. The department team is responsible for the Master's programme in Nursing Science and the doctoral programme in Nursing Science as one of the doctoral programmes in Social Sciences. In the course of the appointment of the new professorship for Nursing Science, the positions will be assigned to Prof. Dr Kerstin Hämel, whereby close cooperation with the other members of the department is expected.

Within the scope of the professorship, we will pursue the discipline of nursing science with a social science and public health orientation as well as an international focus. The dialogue with representatives of nursing practice is also a central concern. The focus is on problem-oriented research that creates a scientific basis for the (further) development of patient- and community-oriented primary health and long-term care. This also ties in with the existing specializations at the Department of Nursing Science.

Within this scope, you will conduct research on one or more of the following thematic areas: "Innovations in primary health and long-term care in a comparative international perspective", "Patient/user-oriented care and participation in the context of chronic illness and care dependency", "Advanced nursing roles/advanced practice nursing", "Interprofessional collaboration", "Working environments in nursing".

With your dissertation project, you will be embedded in the Vienna Doctoral School of Social Sciences (ViDSS) and its structured doctoral program in nursing science. The ViDSS promotes innovative, excellent, problem-oriented research that aspires to contribute to social debates and adress key global challenges. The cohorts trained and supported by the ViDSS are part of a vibrant research environment and international networks.

As a team, we place particular emphasis on a culture of appreciation and mutual support. We believe that a respectful approach to each other and recognizing the individual strengths and contributions of each team member are key to our collective success.

The duration of the contract is 3 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 3 years if the employer does not submit a declaration of non-extension within the first 12 months. An extension to a maximum of 4 years is possible if work progresses accordingly.
