Your personal sphere of play:

The Department of Nursing Science at the University of Vienna was established in 2005 and is part of the Faculty of Social Sciences. The department team is responsible for the Master's programme in Nursing Science and the doctoral programme in Nursing Science as one of the doctoral programmes in Social Sciences. In the course of the new appointment of the professorship of Nursing Science, the position will be assigned to Prof. Dr Kerstin Hämel, whereby close cooperation with the other members of the department is expected.

Within the scope of the professorship, we will pursue the discipline of nursing science with a social science and public health orientation as well as an international focus. The dialogue with representatives of nursing practice is also a central concern. The focus is on problem-oriented research that creates a scientific basis for the (further) development of patient- and community-oriented primary health and long-term care. This also ties in with the existing specializations at the Department of Nursing Science.

Within this scope, you will conduct research on one or more of the following thematic areas: "Innovations in primary health and long-term care in a comparative international perspective", "Patient/user-oriented care and participation in the context of chronic illness and care dependency", "Advanced nursing roles/advanced practice nursing", "Interprofessional collaboration", "Working environments in nursing".

The duration of the contract is 3 years. An extension for a maximum of additional 3 years is possible if work progresses accordingly.

Your future tasks:

You are actively involved in research, teaching and administration, which means:


• You are involved in research projects and scientific studies on primary health and long-term care in the above-mentioned thematic areas using various methods.
• You develop innovative research topics and methods.
• You establish an research profile in nursing science.
• You engage in the development of an international research network on innovations in primary health and long-term care in an international comparison.
• You publish in internationally renowned journals and present your research at national and international conferences, meetings and symposia.
• You actively participate in applying for third-party funding.
• You teach courses independently and/or with others in accordance with the scope of the collective bargaining agreement.
• You supervise students and take part in examinations in the Nursing Science study programme.
• You are involved in evaluation measures and quality assurance.
• You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.

This is part of your personality:

• Completed doctoral/PhD degree in Nursing Science or related disciplines with a clear nursing focus (doctoral certificate must be available at the start of the position).
• Theoretical expertise in nursing and health sciences, with a focus on one or more of the above-mentioned research areas
• Publication activity in renowned, peer-reviewed journals and scientific presentations at conferences
• In-depth, broad methods expertise in qualitative nursing and health research and/or mixed-methods designs.
• Basic knowledge of quantitative social research
• Very good application skills in QDA software
• Very good command of written and spoken German and English
• Good pedagogical skills and experience in university teaching
• Ability to work in a team and high social/communicative competence


Desirable:
• Experience in working with international cooperation partners
• Experience in conducting studies in other countries or cross-country comparative research
• Initial experience in writing and acquiring grant applications
• Initial experience in research management and leading project staff
