JOB ADVERTISEMENT Leibniz-HKI-41/2024 At the Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology (Leibniz-HKI), we research the pathobiology of microorganisms and develop new natural product-based active substances for the treatment of infectious diseases. We are looking for an enthusiastic person to support our IT team IT system administrator (m/f/div) with a focus on infrastructure / IT security As an IT system administrator (m/f/div), you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure and will focus on the administration and implementation of the Leibniz-HKI's security-relevant systems. Another main area of responsibility will be the administration and optimization of the infrastructure systems that are operated under Linux or OES in the existing IT infrastructure. You will be the contact person for all questions in this environment and support the scientists in finding new solutions for bioinformatics issues. Your tasks: Administration of the Leibniz HKI firewall system (PA) and VPN access as well as error analysis and rectification of technical faults in cooperation with external service providers Maintenance of the institute's database servers (Oracle, MySQL) Analysis of log data to detect and resolve security incidents or performance problems Operation and maintenance of the backup environment Configuration and monitoring of the syslog server for central logging of system events Active participation in other IT projects and services of the IT department What you ideally bring with you: Completed training or studies in the field of information technology or a comparable qualification Several years of experience in the administration of IT systems and infrastructures In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems and experience with the installation, configuration and maintenance of Linux servers and systems Good understanding of IT security practices and data protection regulations Understanding of backup and recovery strategies Knowledge of Oracle Organizational skills to prioritize different tasks and keep the overview Ability to work in a team and high service orientation Very good communication skills in German and English What you can look forward to: A responsible and varied job in a state-of-the-art environment A collegial atmosphere between all the people and facilities involved Support for professional and interdisciplinary further training and qualification Flexible working hours and a family-friendly working environment 30 days of vacation per calendar year plus two days off on 24 and 31 December Employment relationship and remuneration in accordance with the collective agreement for the public service of the federal states (TV-L) Further information: Dr. Peer-Joachim Koch | +49 3641 532-1029 | career@leibniz-hki.de Application: Leibniz-HKI is an equal opportunities and diversity employer and promotes inclusion in the workplace.
