The Department of Government, subunit of the Faculty of Social Sciences, is looking for a university assistant (post doc) in research areas represented at the Department of Government, especially on political representation, party competition, political institutions, political economy or political behavior.

Your future position is based at the Department of Government, which is a center for leading research on the comparatiive politics of Europe, Austria and beyond. The position is to be filled from March 1, 2025 and is limited to 6 years.

Staff and Students appreciate internationality, outstanding research projects, interdisciplinary cooperation and exchange between colleagues.

• You develop and strengthen an independent research profile, including internationally visible publications
• You present your work internationally
• You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement (typically 180 minutes of teaching per week)
• You publish internationally in leading international journals (SSCI)
• You supervise students (BA and MA)
• You participate in the administration of the department

• Completed doctoral/PhD studies in Political Science or a related social science discipline
• Own research agenda on political representation, party competition, political institutions, political behavior or related fields
• Excellent knowledge of quantitative social science methods in data collection and analysis
• Internationally visible publication record or advanced manuscripts (revise & resubmit)
• Excellent command of written and spoken English
• Ability to work in a team
