If you enjoy working in a technical field and want to support ou Division operations in research, you are welcome to join the Pharmaceutical Biotechnoloy group at the Division of Pharmacognosy, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The position is limited to November 1, 2024 - April 30, 2025.

Your future tasks:

As a technical assistent with knowledge in microbiology, molecular cloning and genetic engineering you will take on specific tasks related to drug discovery from bacteria. Specifically, your tasks comprise:

  • Taxonomic identification of bacteria from the Division's collection of environment isolates.
  • Development and technical implementation of ciltivation techniques for such bacteria.
  • Preparation of culture extracts and testing them for antimicrobial activities.
  • Genetic manipulation of bacteria aimed at revealing their secondary metabolite biosynthesis potential.
This is part of your personality:
  • You have commercial, technical and organisational knowledge or proof of the relevant professionalrequirements, e.g. school-leaving certificate/technical diploma.
  • You have experience with cultivation of Streptomyces bacteria and Escherichia coli.
  • You have experience in preparation of culture extracts and performing antimicrobial assays.
  • You have experiences with molecular cloning and introduction of recombinant DNA into Streptomyces bacteria.
  • You have MS Office as well as solid general IT knowledge.
  • Good command of English is a prerequisite.

You like to work independently and in a structured manner, are service-oriented and eager to find solutions. The ability to work in a team, flexibility and interest in further training are expected.
