What you’ll get to do
We are looking to hire a Devops Engineer (m/f/d) to join our team working on our development and hosting infrastructure. Our Ruby on Rails based webapp/API is used worldwide by many companies from the construction and real estate business which brings unique challenges, especially around performance, security, and fast release cycles. AMONG OTHER THINGS YOU WILL
- CI/CD Pipeline Management: Develop, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using GitLab to automate testing, build, and deployment processes.
- Containerization & Orchestration: Design and maintain containerized application deployments using Docker, and manage orchestration using Kubernetes.
- Cloud Infrastructure Management: Deploy and maintain scalable, reliable infrastructure on AWS. (Azure / GCP is a plus)
- Cloud Cost Management: Monitor and manage cloud expenditures to ensure cost efficiency, utilizing AWS Cost Explorer, CloudWatch, and other cost management tools.
- Application Architecture Design: Collaborate with development teams to design scalable and efficient web applications, with a deep understanding of web application architecture
- Application Support: Provide support for the deployment and ongoing maintenance of Rails applications, with a focus on performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain clear documentation of infrastructure, processes, and best practices. Provide training and guidance to the development team as needed.
- Monitoring & Logging: Set up and manage monitoring solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, and other relevant tools to ensure high availability and performance.
- Security Best Practices: Implement and enforce security policies and ensure compliance with industry standards for cloud environments.
- Uptime: Implement high-availability (HA) architectures, disaster recovery plans, and failover strategies to ensure system uptime.
WHO YOU ARE
- 3+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or a related role.
- Proven expertise in GitLab CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment strategies.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and managing containerized applications.
- Proficiency in Kubernetes for orchestrating containerized services at scale.
- Solid understanding of cloud platform: AWS, (Azure / GCP is a plus).
- Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, (Ruby is a plus).
- Experience in AWS Cost Management and optimization techniques, including rightsizing, reserved instances, and using Cost Explorer.
- Solid understanding of web application architecture, including frontend-backend interaction, API design, microservices, and cloud-based hosting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

The annual gross salary for this position based on a full-time employment depending on your individual professional qualifications and previous experience ranges from € 52,500- to € 66,500.-. This includes: full health insurance, occupational accident insurance, public pension scheme and public unemployment insurance.
