Nomad Digital are recruiting for a Project Manager to join our Delivery Team - the hybrid role is based in Vienna - Austria.

You'll be joining a global division in an exciting phase of transformation as we partner with customers, internal teams, and our parent company Alstom, to excel our approach to exceptional project management.

You will manage the delivery of Nomad Digital projects within your region, leading a range of varied projects that see the integration of our unique and award-winning solutions combining connectivity software and hardware.

Your role will be to ensure planned works are completed to budget, safely and within set timescales, managing our ecosystem of clients, suppliers, contractors, and partners (both internally and externally). Client facing skills are essential, supported by the ability of good planning, co-ordination, communication skills and hands-on experience.

You can work from our Vienna HQ and from home - providing you are happy to travel on occasion.

What will I be doing?

A Project Manager at Nomad is responsible for leading a range of projects with a variety of complexities and is accountable for their successful execution.

Along with completing all planned works both safely and to budget, they will manage the needs and subtleties of the Client, our Suppliers and all other involved Stakeholders (both internally and externally) - all of this within defined timescales.

They will be expected to travel for work occasionally with extended stays abroad required for certain projects.

The role clearly requires client facing skills which are essential, supported by the aptitude of good planning, strong communication skills and a proven expertise in managing resources in line with the project programme.

Specific Duties include..


  • Responsible for the preparation of the Project Execution Plan and programme.
  • Preparation of the Project Risk Management data base.
  • Delivery of the project in compliance with Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental Plans.
  • Input into the preparation and implementation of the Nomad Project Quality Management System throughout the project.
  • Project close out - Leading a team of subject matter experts and/or contractors assigned to the project ensuring well defined tasks are allocated, execution monitored/steered in terms of quality of work, in time delivery and budget.
  • Ensure proper change management against a clearly defined baseline of functionality, schedule and cost.
  • Provide inputs for upselling opportunities to the customer account/sales manager and support the upselling process.
  • Structured contributions to the knowledge database by documenting and filing best practices and learnings, participation at and contributions to internal initiatives to constantly improve the quality of deliver processes and tools.
  • Involvement in pre-sales support – supporting scoping and planning of new opportunities and demonstrating to the new customer professional project management capabilities.


What experience or qualifications do I need to have?

  • A University degree either technical / business / project mgmt. or equivalent professional experience (EG: 5 years of professional experience with at least 3 years in project management)
  • A successful track record of delivery within multiyear projects in the excess of several million dollars with the ability to work on at least 3 projects in different stages simultaneously.
  • Experience in overlooking Hardware and software solution requirements definition, solution design and implementation as well as complex roll-out projects across the country
  • Successful management of multiple, concurrent projects at various stages of project life cycle.
  • An excellent grasp of the commercial/legal aspects related to project execution.
  • Strong documentation skills and the ability to lead and follow on project process controls.
  • Experience of managing a project whilst ensuring all contractual obligations, (ours, and both our customer and suppliers) are being met.
  • Experience in applying SW tools that support project planning and controlling
  • Experience of the Telecommunications and IT space would be beneficial Experience of working in a high-growth business requiring an adaptable and flexible stance.


Other Essential Requirements:


  • A clean driving license required
  • Fluent German language skills essential
  • A structured approach to work & diligent planning skills
  • Excellent customer facing skills with a direct approach to influential Leadership
  • A concise and effective communication style
  • You must be quality and process oriented with the ability to lead the way on this during a project
  • You will possess excellent negotiation skills
  • You should be able to work well with ambiguity and at times, uncertainty
