We are looking for a committed personality with a high degree of motivation and independence, who will be responsible for the doctoral school "Microbiology and Environmental Sciences" at the Center as a temporary replacement.

Your personal sphere of influence:

The Doctoral School provides the administrative framework for approximately 80 students in the fields of research Biology, Molecular Biology, Geosciences, and Environmental Sciences from their admission all the way to the defense. We support the students through training and teaching at the PhD level, organize events and develop the school together with the students.
You are the essential core of the Doctoral School team and - with the support of the team - take care of budget, teaching and event organization and all administrative agendas.

This position is limited to one year.

Your future tasks:
  • You organize the processes in the Doctoral School "Microbiology and Environmental Sciences", assist the students and faculty and contribute to the development of the Doctoral School with innovative ideas.
  • You work in close cooperation with the Student Service Centers, as well as with the departments of Public Relations, Finance and Controlling, and Human Resources of the University of Vienna and the Centre for Doctoral Studies.
  • You plan and manage the budget of the Doctoral School and organize calls for new positions and finishing grants for doctoral students.
  • You are the central contact point and take care of English and German correspondence with all interfaces (team-internal, university, students, faculty, website, etc.).
This is part of your personality:
  • Professional experience in the field of science coordination, administration and organization of university teaching, event management, internet and communication (preferably in a scientific/university context).
  • Completed Master's degree in the Natural or Life Sciences is a prerequisite, a Natural or Life Sciences doctorate is of advantage.
  • Very good MS Office skills, affinity for technology (handling of website, recruiting tools, SAP, ticket systems, automation of workflows)
  • Very good written and oral communication skills in German and English
