About the research group:The research group "Physics of Nanostructured Materials" (PNM) studies the fundamental physics of novel materials such as graphene and other 2D materials in the context of atomic-scale structural manipulation using electron and ion irradiation combining experimental materials physics, atomic-resolution (scanning) transmission electron microscopy, single-atom spectroscopy, and computational physics.
Job description:We are looking for a motivated and talented individual to join the group as a prae-doctoral researcher. The position offers an excellent opportunity to participate in leading the research field together with national and international collaborators. The research project related to this position will be defined together with the successful candidate, but will be related to defect-engineering of 2D materials for quantum applications, and their study using advanced 4DSTEM-based imaging methods, high energy-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy and in situ optical spectroscopy. A part of the project will be associated with the FWF cluster of excellence "Materials for Energy Conversion and Storage".
Extent of employment: 30 hours/week
The employment duration is 3 years and 1.5 months. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration. Occupation group in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc). After three years of employment, the salary increases according to the collective bargaining agreement.
