Your personal sphere of influence:As a PhD student you will work in the project team "Enacting (digital) citizenship from below: A study on care and the uses of digital infrastructure by refugees in Bosnia and Herzegovina", funded by the Austrian Science Fund (https://www.fwf.ac.at/en/) and led by Dr. Monika Palmberger (Principal Investigator, PI) (https://www.monikapalmberger.eu/)
The project "Enacting (digital) citizenship from below: A study on care and the uses of digital infrastructure by refugees in Bosnia and Herzegovina" focuses on exploring how refugees at the borders of the EU care for themselves and others through digital infrastructure. It also examines how this engagement shapes their political subjectivities and holds the potential to enact citizenship from below. The project is based at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology and is situated within the emerging field of digital migration studies.
As part of the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology not only brings together renowned scientists and students, but also different research areas, a variety of ethnographic methods, a large number of outstanding research projects and appreciative collegial exchange.
The employment duration is initially limited to 1 year. By mutual agreement, the contract can be extended to a max. of 3 years.
