We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic PRODUCTION AUTOMATION TECHNICIAN (m/f/d) to join our DNA synthesis team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and maintaining automated production systems, ensuring the efficient and reliable manufacturing of Ribbon's DNA products. This role involves troubleshooting equipment issues, implementing automation solutions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize production processes.
- Support and maintain automated production systems, including robotic workstations, liquid handling systems, and other automated equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, calibration, and troubleshooting of automated instrumentation to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Monitor production processes and equipment performance, identifying and addressing technical issues or abnormalities.
- Perform routine production processes according to Work Instructions; fill out Manufacturing Batch Records and Electronic Lab Notebooks.
- Collaborate with engineers and scientists to develop and implement automation solutions for improving production efficiency, quality, and scalability.
- Configure and program automated systems to execute production protocols and workflows.
- Conduct equipment validation and qualification activities according to regulatory requirements and internal quality standards.
- Document equipment maintenance activities, troubleshooting procedures, and automation protocols in compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Stay up to date with advancements in automation technologies and best practices in biotechnology manufacturing.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to support new process improvements and technology transfer activities.
Qualifications:
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Biotechnology, Engineering, Automation, or related field. Or equivalent work experience/apprenticeship in these fields.
- Experience in the operation and/or maintenance of life science instruments/equipment with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills to work effectively in a team-based environment.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures and accurately record and complete technical/production documentation.
- B2 Level proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- Ability to use Microsoft Office: Excel/PowerPoint/Word.
Additional plus could be:
- Experience with electronic notebook entry and/or digital sample management systems.
- Previous experience working with automated production systems in a biotechnology or life sciences manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in programming languages used in automation, such as Python, LabVIEW, or C#.
- Familiarity with integrated automation platforms and software (e.g., robotic arms, liquid handling systems, automated incubators).
- Hands-on experience with PLC programming, HMI configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Fluent in German (written and spoken).
- Familiarity with digital sample management systems or LIMS.
- Prior knowledge/experience working in a controlled environment (ISO/GMP).

By Austrian law, we are obliged to specify the minimum salary level by a collective agreement, which is Euro 35.500, - to EUR 37.800, - gross per year. However, we offer a higher salary adjusted to your experience and qualifications.
