Your personal sphere of play:We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in the Biochemical Network Analysis group, led by Jürgen Zanghellini. Our team applies mathematical modeling, high-performance computing, and data science to study cellular functions. Known for our work in constraint-based modeling of microbial metabolism, we also engage in applied research with a focus on biotechnology.
This position will focus on computational modeling of fungal-bacterial interactions and their potential implications for human health — an exciting and emerging area of research.
This position is limited until 31.01.2028.
Your future tasks:We are seeking an ambitious, early-career researcher passionate about multidisciplinary science. As part of our team, you will participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:
We are looking for someone with:
Minimum Requirements
PhD/Doctorate in (computational) systems biology, bioinformatics, data science, mathematics, or related disciplines
Experience in a high-performance computing environment
Strong programming skills (preferably Python and R)
Proven ability to publish in leading international journals
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team
Fluency in English (written and spoken)
Desirable Expertise
Experience with:
Constraint-based methods, especially in:
Microbial network reconstruction
Genome-scale metabolic modeling
Resource allocation methods
NGS or third-generation sequencing data, including:
Genomics
Metagenomics
Transcriptomics
Machine learning algorithms for analyzing biological data
Teaching and e-learning methodologies
Collaborative projects between academia and industry
