YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:As the Managing Director (MD) and Accountable Manager (ACM) of DHL Air Austria you hold overall responsibility for ensuring that all activities within the airline comply with applicable regulatory requirements, specifically those set by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and national aviation authorities. The role encompasses managing the airline's safety management system (SMS), financial oversight, operational performance, and regulatory compliance. The MD/ACM must ensure that resources, facilities, and staffing are adequate to support safe operations and that the highest safety standards are maintained. You will direct, manage, and lead a highly motivated international management team of 300 Aviation Professionals and a fleet of 21 Boeing 757/767 airplanes.
Authorities:
Establishing and maintaining an effective management system
Ensuring that all activities can be financed and carried out in accordance with the applicable European aviation safety regulations
Ensuring that all continuing airworthiness management activities can be financed and carried out in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2018 / 1139 and delegated and implementing acts adopted on the basis thereof
Ensuring the planning grand allocation of resources necessary to manage safety and security risks to aircraft operations
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure full compliance with EASA regulations
Implement and maintain the airline`s Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring compliance with all relevant safety and operational requirements
Safety Management
Establish and maintain an effective safety culture across the organization
Oversee the implementation of corrective actions following safety audits or incidents, ensuring continuous improvement in safety standards
Operational Oversight
Ensure that all operational departments have the necessary resources to meet regulatory requirements and operational demands. Supervise the performance of operational management, ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe, efficient and compliant manner
Financial and Resource Management
Ensure that the airline`s financial and material resources are sufficient to support safe and efficient operations. Oversee budget planning and allocation to ensure that operational safety is not compromised due to insufficient resources
Training and Competence
Ensure that all key personnel, including those responsible for safety-critical tasks are adequately trained and qualified. Supervise the management of training programs to meet regulatory and operational standards
Continuous Improvement
Drive continuous improvement initiatives in the organization to enhance both safety and operational performance
Leading as a Successful 21st Century Manager
Develop a high performance service culture within the organization that nurtures and encourages service excellence, engagement, cost consciousness and quality based on our CIM 21st Century Manager principles of respect and results
Lead and motivate the team to drive continuous improvement of processes and practices to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction
YOUR TASKS:
Strategic Version
Provide strategic direction to the development of DHL Air Austria, ensuring that global and regional business objectives are met
Contribute to the overall strategic direction and management of Aviation Europe`s operational strategy (short and long term) and policies within overall DHL Express context, in terms of door-to-door profitability, service quality and cost performance
Manage all P & L aspects of DHL Air Austria, including but not limited to preparation of the proposal for investments in infrastructure, technology, equipment, systems or other resources
Drive annual business plans and formulate programs that support the agreed strategies, improve service levels and cost position
Enable and manage the achievement of service performance that meets or exceeds network and customer expectations and differentiates DHL Express from its competitors
Align internal and external teams to ensure successful plans and operations from Human Resources, IT, Compliance and other areas as required
Ensure implementation of the DHL ESG strategy on DHL Air Austria level
Ensure compliance with all regulatory, safety and legal requirements
Participation in tariff negotiations experience dealing with labor unions is highly desirable
Internal / External Relationship Management
Develop and maintain high level contacts with the Competent Authorities, local Industry Groups, Government and Regulatory bodies and government leaders to safeguard general DHL Express and Aviation Europe interests in Austria
Identify, establish and maintain productive commercial working relationships with key internal and external contacts, cross-business working groups and all relevant third parties
Liaise closely and actively with Aviation Europe in improving service performance
Timely communication of service improvements and operations changes to Aviation Europe
YOUR PROFILE:
Must be acceptable to Regulatory Authority as Airline Accountable manager and Nominated Person
Master of Business Administration in Aviation Management or similar Aviation related qualification
Previous international experience in a Deputy Accountable Manager role or similar position considered a strong advantage
ATPL and type rated on B757/767 with Instructor (TRI) and Examiner (TRE) duties or engineering qualification is an advantage
Previous experience of direct management of large international teams of highly skilled professionals working with Cross Functional Departments and indirect reporting relationships (HR/IT/Finance, etc.)
Has received Industry recognized training in CAMO, EASA part M, Part 145, Part Ops and Crisis Management
Good numerical and analytical skills including a thorough understanding of budgeting & cist control measures
Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage relationships wit regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders

DHA operations specifications and
DHA operations manual and CAME
Appropriate management experience, preferably in a comparable organization
5 years of relevant work experience of which at least 2 years should be from the aeronautical industry in an appropriates position
Comprehensive knowledge of the international regulatory framework plus European and Austrian legislative and other statutory requirements
