The Business Analysis and Reporting Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing the decision-making processes within Modul University by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data. The role involves providing insights through advanced reporting, ensuring compliance with institutional and governmental requirements, and supporting strategic planning and operational improvements.
The Business Analyst and Reporting Specialist position is assigned to the University Board Office, with priorities specified by the University Board members.
Your responsibilities
Data Collection and Analysis
- Gather and manage institutional data from various sources (e.g., student records, financial systems, HR databases).
- Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
- Utilize data analysis and visualization tools such as the Campus Information System, Excel, Power BI or similar platforms.
Reporting
- Create detailed reports and dashboards within the Campus Information System, tailored to different stakeholders, including leadership, academic departments, and external partners.
- Ensure compliance with Austrian and EU reporting standards (e.g., GDPR, statistical reporting).
- Prepare and submit mandatory reports to national and international education authorities.
Process Improvement and Documentation
- Collaborate with Modul University teams to streamline data collection and reporting processes.
- Develop detailed process maps, workflows, and system diagrams to depict current and future state processes and data generated in each step.
- Identify gaps in current reporting systems and propose solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Act as a liaison between academic, administrative, and technical teams to address data-related challenges.
- Assist in the evaluation and implementation of software solutions.
Policy and Compliance
- Stay informed about relevant policies, guidelines, and best practices for academic institutions in Austria and within the EU
- Ensure that all activities align with institutional and strategic goals and legal requirements.
Your profile
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Data Science, Statistics, Information Systems, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus
- Certification in data analysis or business intelligence (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or similar) is a plus
- Experience in business analysis, data reporting, or a similar role, preferably in an academic or public sector setting
- Proven track record of managing data and creating actionable insights
- Familiarity with the Austrian education system and regulatory frameworks is a definitive plus
Technical and Analytical Skills:
- Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R) and visualization software as well as database management systems
- Familiarity with process mapping tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart) and with project management tools like Monday.com, Trello, or Microsoft Project
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking capabilities
- Ability to interpret complex datasets and provide clear, actionable insights
- Knowledge of automation tools such as RPA (e.g., UiPath, Blue Prism) is considered as an asset
Communication Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and German
- Ability to present data in a user-friendly and visually appealing format
