Your personal sphere of influence:We are looking for highly qualified students with a completed (or to be completed soon) Master’s degree in Business Economics, Economics (e.g., with a minor in business), Management (e.g., with a minor in Economics), or an equivalent degree focused on quantitative research. The potential topics to explore are mechanism design, game theory, and their empirical applications.
This position of part of the Oskar Morgenstern Doctoral School (OMDS) at the University of Vienna. OMDS offers a broad PhD program focusing on specialized field courses, research seminars, and intensively supervised research time. The program is entirely run in English.
The contract duration is 4 years (3+1), provided the excellent performance of the candidate. A later starting date is also possible.
The employment duration is 3 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 3 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a declaration of non-extension. With appropriate work progress, an extension to a total maximum of 4 years is possible.
Your future tasks:You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:
• You are involved in research projects and scientific studies.
• We expect you to finalize your Doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months.
• You work on your dissertation and its completion.
• You hold courses within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
• You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.
• Master's degree in Economics or closely related fields
• Basic experience in academic writing and with research methods (e.g. construction of economic models)
• Excellent command of written and spoken English
• You should be a team player with high social skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Fair salary: The basic salary of EUR 3,714,80 (on a full-time basis) increases if we can credit professional experience. The basic salary on a 30 hours/week basis amount to EUR 2,786.10. Paid 14 times a year.
