The Department of Numismatics and Monetary History at the University of Vienna is the only university department in Europe focusing on money and its history. It is a unique place for the academic study of numismatics from antiquity to the modern period, covering the full methodological spectrum of the subject.
Your new jobAs a university assistant you actively participate in research and teaching at the department as well as in its administration.
This position is limited until 31.08.2029.
What you do exactly• Outstanding PhD in numismatics and monetary history, or in a related subject (history, economic history or the like) with a focus on numismatics
• Excellent publications in the field of medieval/modern numismatics and monetary history
• Experience in academic teaching
• Ability to work in a team and organisational skills
• Broad subject-specific IT user skills
• Languages: German (courses may be offered in English during the first two years of the appointment), English, Latin (at least basic knowledge)
We offer a position in one of the world's leading centres for research and teaching in numismatics and monetary history.
Fixed-term contract and fair salary: The basic salary of EUR 4,932,90 (14 times a year) for a period of 4 years increases if we can credit professional experience.
