Senior Full Stack Javascript/Typescript Engineer

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Full Stack Javascript/Typescript Engineer who will take a leading role in architecting, building, and scaling our platform. You will work closely with cross-functional teams—product, design, and operations—to deliver cutting-edge features, integrations, and optimizations for BalloonEvents. As a key member of our engineering team, you’ll contribute to both our backend services and frontend interfaces, ensuring the platform is robust, scalable, and user-friendly.

Tasks

• Develop and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs for event management.
• Collaborate with frontend developers to implement seamless integrations using frameworks like React.
• Integrate third-party services and external event data providers into our platform.
• Design, test, and deploy microservices or modular components ensuring maintainability, scalability, and security.
• Implement data-driven solutions and work within Agile methodologies to drive rapid iterations.
• Develop innovative features powering interactive maps, live event feeds, and API functionalities.
• Proactively identify performance bottlenecks and implement solutions to optimize user experience.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and UX teams to influence product strategy and roadmap.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, particularly in AI, to bring innovative solutions into our system designs.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in full stack development, with deep expertise in Node.js or other backend technologies.
• Proven experience in building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Familiarity with OpenAPI specificiations
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript (ES6+), with hands-on experience in any backend and frontend frameworks.
• Strong understanding of databases (SQL/NoSQL) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
• Experience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and data-driven development practices.
• Curiosity: A relentless drive to learn, experiment, and explore emerging technologies—especially AI.
• Passion for Programming: A genuine enthusiasm for crafting high-quality code and innovative solutions.
• Initiative: A proactive mindset to take ownership, drive projects, and solve complex problems independently.
• European Work Permit: A valid European work permit is required. Although we offer remote work flexibility, we are looking to employ our lead engineers in Austria. Remote hours can be negotiated during the interview process.

Bonus:

• Exposure to AI frameworks and libraries.
• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) or serverless architectures.
• Contributions to open source projects or a technical blog.
