The University of Vienna plans to expand the existing Research Data Management services by offering discipline-specific support through a new Data Stewardship program. The Faculty of Earth Scienes, Geography and Astronomy (Fakultät für Geowissenschaften, Geographie und Astronomie / FGGA) is therefore looking for a highly motivated person (m/f/d) with an academic background in one or more of the FGGA discipline/s and/or Informatics resp. Data Science; ideally with experience in the areas of data management and processing, quality control, data evaluation and analysis, for the position of Data Steward. This position is temporary for a period of 3 years. By mutual agreement and if the corresponding funds are available, there may be an option for an extended/permanent employment.
Job description:As a Data Steward at the FGGA, you will support researchers in the sustainable handling of research data and the development of strategies for discipline-specific and cross-disciplinary Research Data Management that complies with the FAIR principles and makes data findable, accessible, interoperable and re-usable. You will work at the intersection between research and research infrastructure, and are assigned to the Dean's Office of the FGGA. Together with the researchers at FGGA, experts from the University research support services, the Data Stewardship Coordinator at the University Library as well as Data Stewards from other faculties/centres, you will further develop the Research Data Management at FGGA and University. You can expect a diverse and forward-looking work environment.
